Dyslexia
What is Dyslexia?
Early identification and intervention of students with dyslexia leads to successful learning. We advocate so no child slips through the cracks. About 1 in 5 children have a different way of learning and thinking. With the right intervention and education, they can reach their full potential and make their mark upon the world.
How Do We Advocate?
The Special Education PTSA Dyslexia committee advocates through legislative change, parent education and by building collaboration with the Seattle School District. Interested in working to make a difference? Contact [email protected]
Resources
The Washington State Dyslexia Resource Guide was designed to provide guidance to families and schools with the goals of helping to build an understanding of dyslexia, learn how to identify students with dyslexia, and to support teachers and parents in educating students with dyslexia.
We partnered with community organizations to host a three-part series: Dyslexia 101, The Science of Reading, and Literacy Advocacy. You can watch the recordings on youtube.
